A local heritage group that hopes to turn an old Army chapel into a military museum will hold a fundraising event Saturday.

The Vancouver Barracks Military Association will hold a dance and costume ball at 8 p.m. at 2700 E. 28th St.

The building, now a church hall adjacent to Memorial Lutheran, was built as a World War II-era chapel at Camp Hathaway. That location now is the campus of Clark College.

The event includes a presentation of “Haunted Vancouver and Portland” by Jeff Davis, a military historian and co-author of “Weird Washington.”

Requested donations are $15 each in advance and $20 at the door. Email president@vbma.us to order.

The nonprofit Vancouver Barracks Military Association hopes to convert the building into a military museum.

Raffle and auction prizes will be provided by local and regional businesses and attractions.
