McDonagh leads Portland State past UC Davis 49-21

DAVIS, Calif. (AP) — Kieran McDonagh accounted for three touchdowns, D.J. Adams rushed for 139 yards and a score, and Portland State exploded in the second half Saturday for a 49-21 victory Saturday over UC Davis.

McDonagh completed 12 passes for 250 yards, including a 68-yard TD to Justin Lilley, and added 57 yards rushing, including scoring runs of 23 yards in the second quarter and 6 yards in the third. Adams followed with a 4-yard score for the Vikings (3-5, 2-3 Big Sky), who outscored UC Davis 35-7 after halftime.

Thomas Carter and Ben Bowen added rushing scores, and Ian Sluss returned one of Randy Wright’s two interceptions for another touchdown.

Wright led the Aggies (3-6, 2-4) with 264 yards passing and found Anthony Soto for two TDs. Marquis Nicolis added a rushing score.

Portland State leads the series with UC Davis 8-4, but this was the teams’ first game as conference opponents.
