Sam Houston State overwhelms Lamar 56-7

BEAUMONT, Texas (AP) — Tim Flanders rushed for 131 yards and four touchdowns, and Sam Houston State limited Lamar to 181 yards of offense in a 56-7 victory on Saturday.

Flanders had 7-, 1-, 59- and 10-yard scoring runs for the Bearkats (6-2, 4-1 Southland Conference), who won their fifth straight. It was the 20th 100-yard game of his career.

Sam Houston State compiled 508 yards of offense, 391 on the ground.

Kevin Johnson had the only score for the Cardinals (3-6, 0-4) on an 89-yard kickoff return.

Brian Bell threw 13 passes for the Bearkats, completing nine for 84 yards and a touchdown. Running back Richard Sincere was 2 for 2 passing with a 42-yard TD to Brandon Wilkerson.
