LAKE CHARLES, La. (AP) — Cody Stroud passed for three touchdowns, including the go-ahead score, and McNeese State defeated Stephen F. Austin 35-24 Saturday night to snap a two-game losing streak.

The Cowboys (5-3, 2-3 Southland Conference) trailed 24-21 when Stroud threw his third scoring pass, a 15-yarder to Kenny Brown with 3:05 left in the third quarter.

Seth Thomas set up the final score by intercepting a Brady Attaway pass at the Lumberjacks’ 35. Marcus Wiltz, who rushed for 111 yards on 19 carries, promptly scored on a 35-yard burst with 3 minutes remaining.

Attaway was 42-of-68 passing for 378 yards and two touchdowns for the Stephen F. Austin (3-5, 2-2), but also had two interceptions.

The Lumberjacks amassed 529 yards total offense compared to 368 for the Cowboys. McNeese State finished with 180 yards on the ground, an improvement on the 79 yards the Cowboys had the previous week against Sam Houston State.
