Letter: Civility absent in today's debates
Sunday, October 28, 2012
Ruth Westlund's Oct. 18 letter, "Radical organizers revealed," uses guilt by association to attack President Obama. Rather than make a case for her point of view, she prefers to call those she doesn't agree with Communists and community organizers.
Our country was founded by radical community organizers such as Paul Revere and Tom Paine, who faced far more vicious threats and slanders as they worked for American independence. Name-calling is ugly. Why can't we all agree to express our differences in a more civil tone?
