Letter: Defend institution of marriage

As a concerned 18-year-old and first-time voter, I am saddened by the direction our state is headed. This election has a crucial issue on the ballot: marriage -- an institution and commitment designed for one man and one woman. Traditional marriage was instituted long ago because it is the only relationship in which procreation naturally happens. I wouldn't be here if it were not for my mom and dad. I am truly thankful to have both: I glean and benefit from each one in a special way.

Marriage needs to stay defined as one man and one woman. Anything other than this is not marriage. Join with me in defending life, prosperity, and the well-being of our state and nation by rejecting Referendum 74.
