Police: Washington Park homicide victim had ties to Vancouver

A homicide victim found in Portland’s Washington Park in June was identified as a 15-year-old who was visiting family in Vancouver, Portland police said Monday.
Mayra Sophia Cruz Rodriguez from San Diego County, Calif., was visiting relatives in Vancouver when she was reported as a runaway on June 15, according to a Portland Police Bureau bulletin. Her body was found in Washington Park on June 26.
She was reported as a runaway in San Diego County before coming to Vancouver, police said.
Clark County Sheriff’s Office Det. Kevin Schmidt notified Portland police. Rodriguez was identified using dental records.
The suspect in her death, Mark Beebout, has also been charged in the death of a second woman, Nikayla Powell. Beebout’s been indicted on multiple charges of aggravated murder.
