TCU headed to new conference with new coach

FORT WORTH, Texas (AP) — TCU is going into a new conference with a new coach who has made it where the Horned Frogs want to be.

Trent Johnson has taken each of his three previous teams to the NCAA tournament. Big 12 newcomer TCU hasn’t played in the NCAA tournament since 1998.

The Horned Frogs lost their top two scorers after their first winning season in seven years. There are still nine returning lettermen, including starters Garlon Green and guard Kyan Anderson, the Mountain West Conference’s top freshman last season. Junior forward Amric Fields likely gets a more prominent role after being the Mountain West’s top sixth man last season.

TCU also got a huge boost with Devonta Abron, a 6-8 sophomore transfer from Arkansas, being able to play immediately.
