Salmon Creek — New school clothes and backpacks were distributed to 220 Clark County students in foster care at the third-annual back-to-school clothing event presented by the Assistance League of Southwest Washington on Aug. 23. Working with the Department of Social and Health Services, the Assistance League let students choose new jeans, underwear, socks, T-shirts, shoes, pajamas and backpacks. Ranging from ages 10 to 18, the majority of the students are in middle or high school. The group helped twice as many kids as they did at last year's event. Their goal for next year's event is 300 students. To learn more, visit http://www.alswwa.org or call 360-690-1253.
