La Center — Riding on a float commemorating the historic Apollo 11 moon landing, the Modern Woodmen of America's Youth Service Club in Vancouver won best use of theme-illumination in La Center's Our Days Twilight Parade on Aug. 24. The children were decked out in astronaut suits, while the driver, Tim Filla ,and the club's adopted grandmother, Peggy Sheffield, donned an alien look. "We feel personally touched by the loss of the legendary Apollo 11 astronaut Neil Armstrong just hours after we commemorated the historic voyage at the parade," said Sherree Filla, an adult leader of the club.
