Clark County sets hazardous waste collection event

The Clark County Environmental Services department this month will put on an event allowing residents to safely dispose of their hazardous household waste.

Officials will collect waste from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sept. 15 at the Fisher’s Landing Transit Center, 3510 S.E. 164th Ave. in Vancouver.

Accepted household hazardous waste includes paint, cleaners, solvents, batteries, motor oil, antifreeze, thinners and pesticides. The event will also accept block foam — but not packing peanuts or soft foam — and some electronics. Officials will not, however, accept commercial or industrial waste, business-generated waste, explosives, ammunition or biological materials, according to the county.

All three of the county’s transfer stations also accept hazardous waste on certain days. More information about proper waste disposal is available at Clark County Environmental Services.
