Two Vancouver men were arrested on Saturday after Oregon State Police reportedly found two pounds of heroin in their car during a traffic stop.
Police on Saturday morning pulled over a 2004 Chevrolet Impala driven by Victor Hugo Barragan Alcazar, 18, on Interstate 5 north of Canyonville for a speed violation, according to a police bulletin. Also in the car was Armando Giovani Valencia, 18.
A drug canine found two pounds of heroin — valued at about $70,000 — concealed in the car’s truck, police said.
Alcazar and Valencia were taken into custody on suspicion of unlawful possession and distribution of heroin. They were released to appear in Douglas County Circuit Court.
Further investigation led to the arrest of Enrique Botello Sanchez, 31, of Vancouver for an outstanding warrant. Charges against him related to the heroin seizure are pending, police said.
