CHICAGO (AP) — The Chicago White Sox will be without Adam Dunn and Kevin Youkilis for Friday night’s series opener against the Kansas City Royals.

Dunn aggravated a right oblique strain that cost him two games last weekend.

Manager Robin Ventura said he hopes Dunn can return to the lineup Saturday. Dunn is second in the majors with 38 home runs. He is hitting .208 with a team-high 88 RBIs.

Youkilis left the team to be with his wife, who is expecting to give birth to their first child.

Youkilis is hitting .242 with 12 homers and 38 RBIs since being traded to the White Sox in June.

Ventura hopes Youkilis can also rejoin the team this weekend.
