WASHINGTON (AP) — Nationals pitcher Stephen Strasburg matched his season low by lasting only three innings in his likely final home start of the season, allowing five earned runs and six hits, including two homers, against Florida.
Trailing 5-2, Washington pinch hit for Strasburg, who allowed two runs in the first inning, one in the second and two in the third. The right-hander threw 67 pitches and finished with three walks and two strikeouts.
The 23-year-old Strasburg, who entered the game with a 15-6 record, has struck out 197 in 159 1-3 innings this season with a 3.16 ERA. The Nationals are expected to cut short Strasburg’s first full season following elbow ligament replacement surgery because of an innings limit. Next Wednesday at the New York Mets is expected to be his final start.
