Daniels leads N. Colorado past Colorado Mesa 40-3

GREELEY, Colo. (AP) — Tromaine Daniels rushed for three touchdowns and Seth Lobato threw for 260 yards Saturday as Northern Colorado defeated Colorado Mesa 40-3.

Daniels, who had 88 yards rushing, opened the scoring with a 4-yard run and added touchdowns of 2 and 9 yards in the fourth quarter for the Bears (1-1). Lobato completed 20 of 35 passes, including a 46-yard touchdown to Dimitri Stimphil.

Northern Colorado also scored on a 30-yard fumble return by Leilon Willingham.

Jake Cimolino had 83 yards rushing for Colorado Mesa (0-2), a Division II school. Deke Cisco was 10 for 20 for 69 yards passing and was intercepted three times.

Northern Colorado led only 10-3 at halftime and overcame 11 penalties for 148 yards in the game.
