Arkansas in search of running game against Alabama

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (AP) — Arkansas is searching for a running game this week as it prepares to face No. 1 Alabama.

The Razorbacks (1-1) had just 23 yards rushing in the second half of a stunning loss to Louisiana-Monroe last week, 19 of which came on one run by Knile Davis.

Davis, returning from an ankle injury the kept him out all of last season, has struggled through two games this season — averaging just 3.9 yards per carry.

Arkansas coach John L. Smith says Davis is still clearing the mental hurdles of his recovery, and he’s considering using senior Dennis Johnson more this week against the Crimson Tide (2-0). Johnson had 50 yards rushing on seven carries last week.
