Steelers getting up to speed on no-huddle offense

PITTSBURGH (AP) — Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger is enjoying the freedom of playing in new offensive coordinator Todd Haley’s no-huddle system. He knows, however, that it’s going to take awhile for it to become second nature.

Roethlisberger passed for 245 yards and two touchdowns against one pick in a 31-19 loss at Denver last week. The Steelers controlled the ball for more than 35 minutes and converted 11 of 19 third downs, proof the team is acclimating quickly to Haley’s offense.

The Steelers went with the no huddle extensively at times, but Roethlisberger stressed it wasn’t a hurry-up. The Steelers took their time getting set at the line playing in a hostile environment, often snapping it with just a second or two left on the play clock.

He expects things to move a little more quickly at home Sunday against the New York Jets.
