Tenn.-Martin beats SE Louisiana 23-6

MARTIN, Tenn. (AP) — Derek Carr threw a touchdown pass and D.J. McNeil had two short scoring runs in Tennessee-Martin’s 23-6 victory over Southeast Louisiana on Thursday night.

McNeil opened the scoring for the Skyhawks (2-1) with a 3-yard run in the second quarter. Cody Sandlin kicked a 33-yard field goal early in the fourth quarter, McNeil added a 1-yard touchdown run, and Carr threw a 5-yard scoring pass to Quentin Sims.

Carr was 11 of 23 for 184 yards, Tevin Barksdale ran for 61 yards on 23 carries, and McNeil finished with 47 yards on 18 carries. Sims caught four passes for 72 yards.

The Lions (0-3) avoided a shutout in the final minute on Brian Young’s 8-yard touchdown pass to Jeff Smiley. Nathan Stanley was 19 of 41 for 280 yards with an interception, Young was 5 of 9 for 40 yards, and Stanley Moore caught five passes for 131 yards.
