Colgate beats Sacred Heart 35-14

HAMILTON, N.Y. (AP) -- Jordan McCord rushed for two scores, both in the second half, to help spark Colgate after halftime and subdue Sacred Heart 35-14 on Saturday.

McCord rushed for 167 yards on 28 carries for the Raiders (1-2), while Gavin McCarney threw for 141 yards and two touchdowns and also rushed for 35 yards and a score.

McCarney threw for a score and ran for another in the first half, which helped the Raiders go in tied 14-14 at the break. Colgate seemed like a different team in the second half, though, scoring three touchdowns in the third quarter and holding the Pioneers (0-2) scoreless after halftime.

McCord had TD runs of 5 and 2 yards, and McCarney connected with Chris Looney on a 27-yard scoring pass, all in the third quarter.

Colgate outgained Sacred Heart 445-244 and won despite turning the ball over twice and netting just one takeaway.
