Clark College will hold a screening event for the Obama administration’s deferred action program from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sept. 19 at Gaiser Hall, near the Green 1 parking area at the campus on 1933 Fort Vancouver Way.

The event will help undocumented immigrants determine if they’re eligible for the program and if so, help them apply for deferred action.

Deferred action is available to undocumented immigrants who were brought to the United States as children, have at least a GED and no serious criminal record.

Those approved for deferred action can obtain a temporary work permit and a two-year reprieve from deportation.

About 82,000 undocumented immigrants had already applied for the program as of Friday, according to the Department of Homeland Security.
