Letter: Students should discuss 9/11

On Sept. 12, while visiting with my grandchildren, who are 12th and 7th graders in Evergreen Public Schools, I asked them if 9/11 had been discussed in their schools the day before. Both said the events hadn’t been mentioned.

Why not? Do our teachers not consider this an important part of American history?

Do they think it might be too upsetting for our young people to dwell on such things? It’s very disappointing. We need to get our priorities straight.
