A transient man with a felony warrant was arrested Tuesday night after allegedly shoplifting a PowerBar from a local convenience store.

Nathan Mason, 21, was booked into the Clark County Jail on an outstanding felony warrant and on suspicion of third-degree theft for shoplifting, said Kim Kapp, spokeswoman for the Vancouver Police Department.

A store employee at the 7-Eleven store at 102 W. Fourth Plain Blvd. allegedly saw Mason shoplifting and confronted him, Kapp said. The employee sprayed Mason in the face with some sort of chemical spray, possibly pepper spray or mace, and restrained him on the ground while he waited for police to arrive.

American Medical Response responded to evaluate Mason for injuries.

He was then taken to jail, Kapp said.
