Construction work this weekend will completely close St. Johns Boulevard at state Highway 500, according to the Washington State Department of Transportation.

Crews will shut down both directions of St. Johns between the highway and Northeast Cherry Road. The closure will last from 9 p.m. Friday to 5 a.m. Monday, allowing workers to rebuild part of the new interchange that carries St. Johns up and over Highway 500, according to WSDOT.

WSDOT earlier this month fully opened the freeway-style interchange connecting the two thoroughfares with four new ramps. But final work on the $48 million project remains. WSDOT officials have said they expect to have construction wrapped up by the end of this year or early next year.
