SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — Australian Olympic gold medalist Nathan Outteridge has jumped from Team Korea to Sweden’s Artemis Racing for the 2013 America’s Cup.
Outteridge will helm the syndicate’s second 45-foot catamaran, Artemis Racing – Red, in the next America’s Cup World Series regatta in San Francisco Oct. 3-7.
Outteridge, who has mastered several classes of high-performance boats, had been skipper of Team Korea. Terry Hutchinson is skipper of Artemis Racing.
The Aussie won the gold medal in the 49er skiff class in the London Olympics with crew Iain Jensen.
New Zealander Peter Burling, part of the silver medal 49er crew at London, took over as Team Korea’s skipper.
