Letter: Herrera Beutler ignores solution

The Columbian
Published: September 21, 2012, 5:00pm

Having read the letters in The Columbian regarding the dismantling of the U.S. Postal Service via the pension overpayments, I say there is a cure. The current Congress has before it HR 1351. The bill has garnered 230 co-sponsors (out of 435 members) with bipartisan support (197 – D, 33 – R). This budgetary nontax-creating bill is close to passage.

Despite repeated calls from her constituents, Rep. Jaime Herrera Beutler, R-Camas, has steadfastly refused to support this worthwhile bill. Shame on Herrera Beutler for not supporting her district with a sensible technical correction to a Congress-created problem for our constitutionally created postal service.
