North Dakota beats Sacramento State 35-13

SACRAMENTO, Calif. (AP) — Mitch Sutton ran for three touchdowns to help lead North Dakota over Sacramento State 35-13 on Saturday night as both teams opened Big Sky conference play.

Sutton, a senior, scored on two 5-yard runs and a 1-yard run for his first three-touchdown game. Sutton posted 162 yards on 23 attempts.

Jameer Jackson caught a 32-yard pass from Marcus Hendrickson in the first quarter to put North Dakota on the scoreboard first, and a 20-yard pass in the third. At the half, North Dakota (3-1) led 14-7.

Though they couldn’t pull out the win, Sacramento State led North Dakota in passing yards, 237-147. Garrett Safron was 12 of 33 for 163 yards and Mason Magleby was 6 of 7 for 74 yards.

DeAndre Carter caught an 11-yard pass from Safron, and Shane Harrison caught a 10-yard pass from Magleby for touchdowns for the Hornets (2-2).
