Phelps finally meets his idol, the ‘other’ Michael

DOWNERS GROVE, Ill. (AP) — The big moments keep on coming for Michael Phelps.

The most decorated Olympian finally met his idol, Michael Jordan, while appearing on David Feherty’s “Feherty Live” show Monday night.

Phelps didn’t know Jordan was going to be stopping by, and he was speechless when the basketball great walked on stage. Phelps said afterward that he was “super pumped, super excited,” so much so that he didn’t know if he’d be able to sleep. Jordan was similarly impressed, saying he was “honored and humbled” that he helped inspire Phelps.

Phelps and Jordan were guests on the special Ryder Cup-themed edition of “Feherty Live.” It will air on the Golf Channel on Wednesday, two days before the Ryder Cup begins at Medinah.
