Motorists are being warned that Interstate 84 could be affected by a Hood River, Ore., wildfire that’s burned more than 70 acres.

All lanes were open Thursday morning, said Don Hamilton of the Oregon Department of Transportation. That could change as the day goes on, he said.

On Tuesday night one lane of east I-84 between mileposts 66 and 67 was closed. All lanes were open Wednesday.

“Stay alert for fire vehicles moving around,” said Kevin Weeks, spokesman for the Oregon Department of Forestry.

The fire sparked just after 8 p.m. Tuesday. No structures were threatened or injuries reported, but the steep terrain and dry timber posed a challenge for firefighters, Weeks said.

The wildfire is reported to be two miles east of Hood River, which is about 66 miles east of Vancouver.
