DOVER, Del. (AP) — Kurt Busch will make his first start in the No. 78 car for Furniture Row Racing at the Oct. 13 race at Charlotte.
Busch signed this week to drive for the Colorado-based team in 2013. He’ll get an early jump and drive the final six races of this season for his new team.
Busch spent this season driving for Phoenix Racing in the Sprint Cup series and his brother’s Kyle Busch Motorsports in the Nationwide Series, where he won twice.
Busch says he “can’t wait” to get back into a quality car. He says Furniture Row is a big step up from the Phoenix program.
Busch will replace Regan Smith in the No. 78 Chevrolet. Smith has Furniture Row’s only Cup race victory, winning in 2011 at Darlington Raceway.
