WEST POINT, Ky. (AP) — Officials at a Kentucky dragway say that three people have been injured in an on-track accident.
WAVE-TV in Louisville reports that the accident occurred at about 8:10 p.m. CDT in the burnout area of the Ohio Valley Dragway. The track is located near the Hardin-Jefferson County line in north-central Kentucky.
Track manager Terry Duff told the news station that a dragster driver suffered a medical condition, then struck a member of his pit crew and a crew member from another team. The driver was traveling at a low speed.
The driver was transported by helicopter to University Hospital in Louisville; the other two were taken there by ambulance.
Track officials could not be reached by The Associated Press on Saturday night. A statement on the dragway website said “two crew members and one driver were injured in an on-track incident” but that no spectators were injured.
