A military history talk on Oct. 11 will offer a Pacific Northwest perspective on the Medal of Honor.
The talk will be at 6:45 p.m. at the Vancouver Community Library, 901 C St., in the Klickitat Room.
Frank Krone of Northwest Historical Perspectives will discuss the history of the medal, which was created by Congress during the Civil War.
Fewer than 4,000 have been awarded, and four recipients are buried in Vancouver Barracks’ Post Cemetery.
Other service members who were born in the Pacific Northwest or served here received the medal.
The talk, presented by Northwest Historical Perspectives and Vancouver Barracks Military Association, is free. Occupancy is limited to 30 people, so seating is first come, first served.
