HANOVER, N.H. (AP) — Penn shut down Dartmouth in the first half to open a 20-point halftime lead, then held off the Big Green’s second-half rally for a 28-21 victory Saturday in the Ivy League opener for both teams.

The Quakers (1-2, 1-0) scored on two 1-yard runs, one each by Jeff Jack and Greg Schuster. A pair of Connor Loftus field goals gave Penn its 20-point lead.

Dartmouth (2-1, 0-1) rallied in the second half behind quarterback Alex Park and running back Dominick Pierre. Park hit Michael Reilly on a 31-yard scoring pass in the third quarter to get Dartmouth on the scoreboard. In the fourth quarter, Pierre’s 33-yard run cut it to 20-14.

But Penn answered with a 51-yard touchdown run by Lyle Marsh and quarterback Billy Ragone’s two-point conversion pass to Joe Holder.

Park’s 15-yard scoring pass to Ryan McManus made it 28-21, but Penn ran out the last 3:33.
