South Dakota State stops Missouri State 17-7

BROOKINGS, S.D. (AP) -- Zach Zenner got South Dakota State off and running with an 88-yard touchdown run in the first quarter, and the Lumberjacks went on to post a 17-7 victory over Missouri State on Saturday night.

Zenner finished with 182 yards on 30 carries.

South Dakota State (4-1, 2-0 Missouri Valley) held a three-point lead until the fourth quarter, when Austin Sumner threw an 8-yard scoring pass to Brandon Hubert to make it 17-7. Sumner completed 17 of 27 passes for 192 yards and was intercepted three times.

Ryan Heaston rushed for 150 yards for Missouri State (0-5, 0-2).

South Dakota State intercepted four Ashton Glaser passes, including two by Ross Shafrath.
