KALAMAZOO, Mich. (AP) — David Fluellen ran for 213 yards and three touchdowns Saturday night to lead Toledo to a 37-17 win over Western Michigan.
The Rockets (4-1, 2-0 Mid-American), winners of four straight since losing their opener in overtime at Arizona, were in control from the start. They led 17-0 before Western Michigan could manage a first down.
Fluellen, who carried 21 times, scored on runs of 6, 53 and 22 yards, and Terrance Owens threw for 243 yards for the Rockets. Jordan Haden returned an interception 63 yards for another Toledo touchdown.
Western Michigan scored when Tyler Van Tubbergen threw a TD pass to Jaime Wilson. Brian Fields later ran 48 yards for a touchdown.
The Broncos (2-2), coming off a home win over Connecticut, were playing their first conference game of the season. Last year in Toledo when these teams met, the Rockets won 66-63.
