BEASAIN, Spain (AP) — Nairo Quintana of Colombia won the Tour of Basque Country by edging out countryman Sergio Henao in Saturday’s time trial.

Time trial world champion Tony Martin won the 15-mile leg in the town of Beasain in just over 35 minutes.

Quintana entered the final stage six seconds behind Henao in the overall classification. The Movistar cyclist wiped out the difference and finished second to Martin in the stage by 17 seconds.

It was the first win for the 23-year-old rider.

Quintana completed the six-day race in northern Spain, which was plagued by cold temperatures, rain and snow, in 21 hours, 39 minutes, 35 seconds.

Australia’s Richie Porte was runner-up, 23 seconds behind. Henao finished in third at 34 seconds off the pace. Simon Spilak of Slovenia was another second back, and two-time Tour de France winner Alberto Contador was fifth, 54 seconds behind.
