ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) — Texas Rangers pitcher Matt Harrison has been dealing with soreness in his lower back since coming out of his last start.

The Rangers said Monday that Harrison had been kept out of on-field team activities for two days since pitching Saturday against the Los Angeles Angels.

The left-hander’s scheduled bullpen session between starts is Tuesday.

For now, the team says Harrison is scheduled to make his next start Thursday when the Rangers open a series at Seattle.

Harrison (0-2, 8.44 ERA) started the March 31 season opener at Houston. He got a new $55 million, five-year contract in January.

In Saturday’s start against the Angels, Harrison gave up a pair of two-run homers in the first inning and allowed five runs in five innings.
