Letter: Remove sales tax exemption

The Columbian
Published: April 10, 2013, 5:00pm

It is good to see that Gov. Jay Inslee supports eliminating the exemption of sales tax to Oregonian buyers. The merchants in Southwest Washington say they will lose so much business, just like the bars said they would lose business because of the smoking ban. It’s not going to happen. Business may be off for a small period of time but that is it. Washington needs the revenue.

Oregon has been taking income tax from Washingtonians who work in Oregon. My wife and I paid Oregon income tax for 18 years. It did us no good. Let’s get this passed. I am tired of cashiers asking, “Are you a Washington resident?”
