PORTLAND — A committee of the City Club of Portland is recommending that the city add fluoride to drinking water to help prevent tooth decay.
The full membership of the civic organization will vote on the issue April 19. The Oregonian reports it has endorsed fluoridation five times since 1955.
Portland residents will vote May 21 on the issue. The city council voted last year to fluoridate water but opponents collected enough signatures for a vote of the public.
