Prep roundup: Washougal sweeps at Al McKee Invitational

The Washougal track and field team stormed off with most of the honors Saturday at the Al McKee Invitational at Stevenson.

Both the Washougal boys and girls won team titles at the 11-team meet, and Washougal’s Kaitlyn Johnson was named the girls athlete of the meet.

Johnson won the 100 meters (13.54 seconds), 200 (28.00), triple jump (31 feet, 51/2 inches) and was on the winning 800 relay team.

The Washougal girls scored 1301/2 points to beat out White Salmon (102) and La Center (95).

The Washougal boys scored 125 points to hold off La Center (1031/2) and Woodland 90.

Stars of the day

TRACK: The Heritage boys won the Barlow Relays at Gresham, Ore. Devin Scott won the long jump (21-0), triple jump (44-7, fourth-best mark in Washington) and pole vault (12-0). James Breen won the 100. Heritage also won the 800 and sprint medley relays

TRACK: Union’s Alexis Fuller won the 800 in 2:17.02 (the fourth-best mark in Washington) and 1,500 in 4:46.49 and was part of the winning 1,600 relay at the Willamette Falls Invitational in Oregon City, Ore.
