CINCINNATI (AP) — Reds outfielder Ryan Ludwick returned to the clubhouse on Tuesday with his right arm in a bulky sling two weeks after surgery to repair torn cartilage in the shoulder.

Ludwick says he’ll wear the sling for two more weeks. He’ll miss at least the first half of the season.

Cincinnati’s cleanup hitter hurt the shoulder while sliding into third base during the season opener.

Ludwick said his rehabilitation has been slow and boring. He’s limited to getting the motion back in the shoulder. He has to wear the sling the rest of the time.

The defending NL Central champions have already suffered three injuries. Left-handed reliever Sean Marshall is on the disabled list with a sore shoulder, and top starter Johnny Cueto is on the DL with a strained back.
