Meadow Homes — The Share charity’s Backpack Program got a boost last week, thanks to a $506 donation from a local Girl Scout troop. The girls of Vancouver Troop 42561 stopped by Share on April 10 to deliver the check to Becky Parker, hunger response assistant director. Eight girls in the troop sold more than 3,600 boxes of Girl Scout cookies, setting aside 20 percent of their earnings for charity. In addition to the money, the girls gave their time as well, filling bags of food for local children in need. The Backpack Program delivers thousands of packs of food to 72 participating schools each year.
