FORT WORTH, Texas (AP) — NASCAR has suspended four members of defending Sprint Cup champion Brad Keselowski’s team and three more from Penske Racing teammate Joey Logano for seven races each, saying they used parts without prior approval before last weekend’s race at Texas.

The series also stripped the drivers and their owners of 25 points each Wednesday, meaning Keselowski will drop from second to fourth in the Sprint Cup standings and Logano will drop from ninth to 14th. Penske vowed to appeal.

Before Saturday night’s race, NASCAR confiscated the original rear-end housing from Keselowski’s No. 2 Ford and Logano’s No. 22. Logano finished fifth and Keselowski was ninth.

NASCAR suspended Keselowski crew chief Paul Wolfe and three others for seven races and fined Wolfe $100,000. Logano crew chief Todd Gordon received the same fine and he and two other crew members received the same suspensions.
