CHICAGO (AP) — White Sox left-hander John Danks thinks he is ready for the next step in his recovery from August surgery.
Danks is back in Chicago following a stint at extended spring training and plans to meet with team officials Monday. He thinks he is ready to begin a minor league rehab assignment, but that decision is up to the team.
Danks had surgery Aug. 6 to repair a capsule tear and remove debris in his rotator cuff and biceps. He is in the second season of a $60 million, five-year contract.
Danks plans to throw a bullpen session in front of pitching coach Don Cooper early this week.
The pitcher made his remarks before the White Sox hosted the Twins on Sunday.
