Letter: What is lawmaker hiding from?

I am really disappointed with Rep. Jaime Herrera Beutler’s lack of commitment to her constituents.

I have written her several times asking for her to support various bills in Congress regarding marijuana and hemp.

The most current request is in regards to HR 6606, the Respect States’ and Citizens’ Rights Act of 2012. This act would honor states’ rights. As we, as a state, passed Initiative 502, Herrera Beutler’s duty to us is to support this bill.

What I get in response is always a form letter ending with, “I will keep your thoughts in mind should the bill come to the House floor for a vote.” I don’t want her to just keep my thoughts in mind, I want her to say what her position is. I have asked her to co-sponsor this bill as well.

My questions are these: Why does Herrera Beutler not respond to direct questions around these issues? What is she hiding from? Does she not want to support the will of Washington voters?
