BARCELONA, Spain (AP) — Juan Monaco of Argentina outlasted Jeremy Chardy of France in a long second-set tiebreaker to win 6-0, 7-6 (11) in the third round of the Barcelona Open on Thursday.
The seventh-seeded Monaco will play either Martin Klizan or Philipp Kohlschreiber in the quarterfinals.
Also, Dmitry Tursunov, the Russian qualifier who upset top-seeded David Ferrer on Wednesday, lost to Thomaz Bellucci of Brazil 4-6, 6-1, 6-3.
Seven-time winner Rafael Nadal plays Benoit Paire of France later, while Tomas Berdych, Nicolas Almagro and Milos Raonic are also in action.
