Public health council, county to host youth violence forum

The Clark County Public Health Advisory Council and Clark County commissioners are hosting a community forum on youth violence.

The community discussion, Understanding Youth Violence, is from 6 to 7 p.m. April 30 at the Vancouver Community Library, Columbia Room, 901 C St. Refreshments will be served at 5:30 p.m.

A panel of experts will offer insights, discuss action steps and answer audience questions. Panelists include Sandra Matthewson, director of prevention center programs for Educational Service District 112; Clay Mosher, professor of sociology at Washington State University Vancouver; Jonathon Norton, a Youth Commission member; Sean Scrivner, Restorative Community Services coordinator for Clark County Juvenile Court; Joe Walsh, program coordinator for Safe Communities Task Force; and Beth Walton, nurse practitioner for The Vancouver Clinic and creator of the local Choose Life program.

The event will also feature a PhotoVoice exhibit of photographs and journal entries from leaders at the Boys & Girls Clubs of Southwest Washington.
