LOS ANGELES (AP) — Southern California center Dewayne Dedmon says he’s leaving school to enter the NBA draft.

The junior announced his decision Wednesday on the school’s website.

Dedmon played two seasons for the Trojans after arriving from the junior college ranks. His sophomore year was cut short by a knee injury. He led the Trojans in rebounding (7.0 per game), blocks (66) and steals (34) this season.

Dedmon says he had some ups and downs at USC but learned a lot. He believes it’s best to turn pro now.

He and reserve center James Blasczyk were suspended by then-interim coach Bob Cantu for violating a team rule during the final weekend of regular-season play. Police in Spokane, Wash., investigated two USC players about a series of fights in that city on March 10.

Dedmon and Blasczyk didn’t play in USC’s season-ending loss to Utah in the Pac-12 tournament.
