OMAHA, Neb. (AP) — All-America forward Doug McDermott of Creighton has scheduled a Thursday afternoon news conference to announce whether he’ll return to school or skip his senior season and declare for the NBA draft.

McDermott was the second-leading scorer in Division I last season, averaging 23.2 points.

Sunday is the deadline for underclassmen to enter the draft.

The son of Creighton coach Greg McDermott led the Bluejays to a sweep of the Missouri Valley regular-season and tournament titles in their last year in the conference. They’ll move to the Big East next season.

NBA draft analysts peg Doug McDermott as a late first-round or early second-round pick. An Associated Press first-team All-American as a sophomore and junior, he was the MVC player of the year and Valley tournament MVP this past season.
