Letter: NRA is an expert at spreading fear

I am appreciative of all the letters, pro or con, on the gun-safety issue. The more we keep this issue before the people, the better chance we have of impacting elected officials.

As I read letters from National Rifle Association sympathizers, it is apparent that the NRA has done an excellent job of spreading fear among members that their guns will be taken. Actually, the bills before Congress will enhance the safety of owning guns but will restrict opportunities to massacre innocent people.

A quote from an April 19 letter, “Gun-toting heroes stuff of dreams,” stated, “Americans need to grow up and stop wanting to be a gun-toting hero …” Let’s buy guns and proudly use them in a safe manner, while being brave enough to stand up to the NRA and their distorted concepts.
