DAVIE, Fla. (AP) — Place-kicker Caleb Sturgis of Florida has been chosen by the Miami Dolphins in the fifth round of the NFL draft.

Sturgis was the 166th overall selection, and the third Florida player taken Saturday by the Dolphins. They picked former Gators linebacker Jelani Jenkins in the fourth round, and running back Mike Gillislee in the fifth round.

Sturgis made 70 of 88 field-goal attempts in his career, including 24 of 33 from 40 yards and beyond. He’ll challenge incumbent Dan Carpenter, who’s scheduled to make $3 million in 2013.
